Research
Research at the Institute for Environmental Decisions (IED) has its focus on the analysis of individual and collective decisions in the fields of natural resource utilization and environmental issues. The research concerns coupled human-environment systems. Hence it requires interdisciplinary approaches that combine methods and knowledge from natural and social sciences, and philosophy. IED groups are members of Competence Centers like the Competence Center Environment and Sustainability (CCES), focusing on climate change related decision-making of different actors and on strategies to overcome barriers to change. In addition, a great deal of research takes place at the interface between research and practice. Moreover, many of IED’s projects have an international component.
